Hullo there! It's 2015. How WEIRD! Anyways, the cardboard challenge was a GREAT one for me. Because I was absolutely 'over' this:

And that is NO 'set up' photo.....I simply rarely use ribbon, & when I do get so frustrated, I just rummage through it then close the drawer. No more. This is what I made - using an old piece of cardboard:
Yup, a ribbon holder. Simple. Effective. MESS FREEEEEEE...gotta ♥♥♥ that!!!

Bit of a box.....covered it with cut offs of pp:
Did those cut outs on the side so that the ribbon would stay in place, using a craft knife & Tim Holtz scissors:
Then, using my BOSTIK blu tak [in a bright colour so I could find the ends of the ribbon easily], I started filling it with the ribbon/lace I think I'll use:)
It was such an easy project, that will save me a great deal of angst & annoyance!
I made the little cut outs 1" wide - most ribbons are that width or less...here's where I now keep it....
...and maybe use them more, since they're in sight! Now, off to make a couple more;) Thanks for looking & happy scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

LESSology Challenge #43: Creative inspiration of Mitra Pratt

 photo Challenge-43-Cardboard-Central-design-team_zpsfcfa0aed.jpg

How about giving the good old sturdy box a fancy makeover like what design team member Mitra Pratt did for LESSology Challenge #43: Cardboard Central?

A sturdy black cardboard box is never ever something that gets tossed at my house. The sturdy part means you can go all multimedia on it and it won't sag or warp.

See, it's a nice black box & was so easy to alter! Well, it is nicer in my opinion of course with feet.

See them peeking out there? Can you guess what they are?

Old fuses that are spray painted gold! I know, they have such a nice shape.

One of my favorite parts of this box are the microbeads I added along the edge with glue. You can see a glue drip that I left because I thought it was pretty.

How about that flower! It was a gift from Yvonne, LESSology's owner! Isn't it delicious?

We'd love for you to play along with our cardboard challenge! I am sure you have a sturdy box hiding somewhere in your house! I'm planning on adding a gift into mine at some point for a nice present! Easy peasy!

Happy new Year everyone :)
A new year with lots of new and creative opportunities.
For me, it is my first blogpost here at LESSology and I'm
thrilled to part of such a fun and creative team where upcycling is in focus. We have started this year with a Cardboard challenge
and I have  upcycled an empty Pringles Crisp box into this chocolate gift box.

A box like this can be used as a nice and fancy wrapping for a last minute gift, like here, filled with mini chocolates as a yummy present for a chocolate lover.

here is a before picture of the cardboard box

and this is the finished box with the lid decorated as well
( Since the lid is made of plastic, I prefer to use a heated glue "gun"
when decorating  it)
Upcycling projects gives an opportunity to use stash "saved for a rainy day" like I have done here with an old brown lace. (finally it got a new home ;)

and I  upcycled some birch bark, peeling it of some firewood.
( it is cold in Norway this time of the year and we use renewable
heating resources like firewood and hydro electric power, as we
have plenty of waterfalls and large forests of pine, fir and spruce trees, just in case you are concerned  about deforesting)
The bark works well on any project and I love the natural curly shapes you get when peeling it off.

I also used some corrugated cardboard,  painted with white acrylic paint
I always keep the thin metal wire cut offs from the paper
flowers and can use them as separate embellishments on other
projects later on.

As the holiday season  is over, for most of us, I am sure
some of you have cardboard left overs after Christmas, ready to be
upcycled into a new project.  Here is the chance to have some fun
and we love to see what you come up with :)

Are you working hard on your LESSology Challenge #43 Cardboard Central projects? How about a little creative inspiration from design team member Yvonne Yam?

I love the look of raw corrugated cardboard. It instantly adds interest to your project. Just peel off the top layer of a piece of cardboard....

I used it to prop up the elements on my mixed media canvas as well as add textured interest.

Hope you've been inspired to join us for LESSology Challenge #43: Cardboard Central.

Like this piece of cardboard wall art at Fully Booked - a bookstore in Manila, Philippines.

Remember you can create anything project you like as long as you include at least ONE upcycled item. Please indicate what that item is in your post as it may not be apparent through the photos.

Here is this month's prize package. :)

A little sneak peek of the design team's projects....
