LESSology Challenge #50: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

 photo Challenge-50-Zip-me-up-design-team_zpsnie2m25z.jpg

What if you don't have an actual zipper? Well, design team member Lizzy Hill got a little creative with her stamp sets for LESSology Challenge #50: Zip me up!.

 photo Design-team-member-Lizzy_zps8033ad7b.jpg

Well, this month I had a bit of trouble as I don't have zips. I detest sewing. Luckily, I found a couple of zip STAMPS! Phew! Wiping the sweat off the brow.

Zips always make me think 'Grungy Girl'. So I scrapped my step grand-girl who lives near London these days. Some of the zip stamps got heat embossed. Some did not!

Some of my recycled elements include old sheet music on the background:

And the corrugated card from an old box - behind the photo. I also used some chippy 'waste':

My title. Lots of embossing on this one! Gold & black mixed together:
And here is the whole page:

Can't wait to see your interpretation of our zip challenge!

Cheers, & happy scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

LESSology Challenge #50: Creative inspiration of Mitra Pratt

 photo Challenge-50-Zip-me-up-design-team_zpsnie2m25z.jpg

There are so many fun ways to incorporate zippers in your projects. Let's see what design team member Mitra Pratt came up with for LESSology Challenge #50: Zip me up!

 photo Design-team-member-Mitra_zpse5c48df0.jpg

This project includes several things I have been hoarding. That shimmery shiny Hotel California Tequila bottle, the cork & light socket kit to convert a bottle to a lamp, an orange zipper and that big black silky flower. It was nice to get all of them combined into a beautiful useful project!

Let me show you the shade first. That big black silky flower was a gift from Yvonne Yam, the LESSology owner! I paired up a bunch of pretty blooms with some leaves that I cut on my Big Shot out of recycled cardboard covered with metallic duct tape! love that shimmer and those bold colors!

I used my orange zipper as trim! It gives a neat little patten at the top! Can you see it hiding under the sparkly ribbon? I had intended at one point to twist it into a flower, but it was really stiff so it got packed into my stash! I bet you have one hiding somewhere too that you could use in our challenge!

I also upcycled a little heart dangle from a necklace that I covered in alcohol ink! Check out those duct tape leaves again. I'm really quite excited about those!

And here is the pretty bottle! THE MAN got this Tequila for Father's Day and we shared it with his Dad so it's nice to keep the memory in a lamp! Besides...gold label ahd shimmery bottle....LOVE IT!

I have really been enjoying this project! See how pretty it is with it turned on? The flowers almost glow!

Hope you get a chance to play along with us!

LESSology Challenge #50: Creative inspiration of Tone-Lill Angelskår

Ready for another round of zipper-inspired projects? Let's see what design team member Tone-Lill Angelskår came up with for LESSology Challenge #50: Zip me up!

 photo Design-team-member-Tone-Lill_zpsc4fe841d.jpg

Hello There! In case you have missed it, our August #50 challenge is called ZIP ME UP!....and you can be as creative as you like, using a Zipper in any possible way, together with at least one upcycled item.
---

I forgot to take a picture of my upcycling items before I started, but it is an old  red zipper, a food-waste bag for recycling bio-waste and a piece of  material from an old pair of jeans. The jeans material is used to reinforce the opening ( the dark line on the right side ) where I have made a pocket on the outside of the card to keep photos and other memorobilias

I folded the bag in to 3 sections, only sewing the zipper on to the
top and middle part, leaving the bottom part to be folded inwards.

I cut off the top of the bottom section of the bag,
creating pockets on both sides for tags.
This is what it looks like when zipped up.

This is one of the outsides with  ...
...a chain of photos attatched...
and more photos on the backside of the photo chain

I made 2 big pullout tags (to the right) for more photos which are kept in the outside pocket, and there was room for a  #8 manila tag to be pulled out from the top of this front side panel.
here are the backsides of the 2  tags from the picture above
and the last pullout tag  was a big photo and it slides all the way into a large pocket in the paperbag (you can see the folding line on it from where the "bag-card"  folds when zipped up)

This is the inside when finished, using all sorts of leftover papers with stamping,  acrylic paints, plasterboard glassfiber tape, and washi tape, a mix of blings and can ring pull.

The card is made for a neighbour's 50th
anniversary, so the text is in Norwegian.
I have some  old Prima Transparencies, so I did some stamping on a leftover piece from it, for a see- through effect of the  tag underneath.

Pocket section with tags
Front and back side of the 2 tags in the pocket
I added a small envelope onto the back side  pocket
.
..and here  is the opposite front and back  on the tags.Because of the tight stiching it wasn't room in the pockets to add any extra hight on to the tags, which meant I had to keep them both sort of  flat with no room for embellishments .

Here at LESSology we would love to see your ideas and what you can create with using a zipper.
There are more to come from our DT members over the next couple of days, so be sure to pop back in  for more creative ideas, you won't be disappointed...I promise!

LESSology Challenge #50: Creative inspiration of Yvonne Yam

 photo Challenge-50-Zip-me-up-design-team_zpsnie2m25z.jpg

Hello again! Hope you've been rummaging through your "save-it-for-a-rainy-day" box for a zipper to play along with LESSology Challenge #50: Zip me up! How about getting some ideas from design team member Yvonne Yam's project?

Yvonne Yam photo Design-team-member-Yvonne.gif

Oh yes, I am one of those who loves collecting glass bottles and jars. They are so useful for storing stuff! *winks*

This was a slim one from a cold-press juice drink that is perfect for my watercolour brushes.:)

I started by adhering some remnant lace around the bottle with matte medium. Then I used half of a zipper and glued it around the bottle to cover up the joint edges.

Then I glued some pearls along the edges to make it a little prettier.:)

For the other half of the zipper, I ran a needle and thread through it to create a gathered effect.

Hot-glue to create a spiral zipper flower.

Adhere it to the bottle.

The last step is to find a charm you like and adhere it. And you have an embellished bottle for watercolour brushes!:)
