LESSology Challenge #4: Creative projects of Angi Barrs, Mandy Dodd and Julie Tucker-Wolek! :)

Photobucket

Today we are sharing the creative inspiration of design team members Angi Barrs, Mandy Dodd and Julie Tucker-Wolek.

Angi Barrs

Hi everyone, Angi here with a quick and easy wall art project for you. I used a 14" x 5" piece of canvas and covered it with recycled cork. Cork is a very natural and green material that is so fun to use on your altered projects.

I decorated the cork wall hanging with Martha Stewart adhesive diecuts layered with pink and green flowers. In the center of my board I added pink glitter adhesive alpha stickers to add more shine to the projects.

This project was so fun to make. I'm going to hang it in my craft room. I hope you all will join us and play along in this fun challenge. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I've promised Paige, my14yr old for ages that I'd make her a canvas to hang her necklaces and earrings on.
When Paige was much younger, she watched me make quite a few of these as presents for sisters and nieces, and she's never forgotten them and has been asking for one.

Here's how its done:

Firstly add dobs and dribbles of paint in tones of  colour to a canvas
I've done a lighter tone on the outside to a deeper colour in the middle
This measures 16 x16 inches

Then, using a fairly wide brush, start from the outside and brush around in a circular motion

and keep going .....(and paint the sides)

and keep going until the middle is finished.....

(Paige has a white, orange and lime green room!)

Now add the big foam stamps
Her name.... and some stems and petals!

Here's how its shaping up...

now to add the little things that help jewelry hang...
but I havent added much because it would be better for Paige to arrange it how she'd like.

Here's what I'm recycling... I think I've had these brads in my stash for about 8 years!
But how handy are they to repurpose them as earring hangers!
They just need pressing through the canvas...

and for bigger earrings... you can hang a little fine wire hoop on them.
and these pins from jewelry making (dont know what they are called...
but bent up like this and pop a brad in the loop... press a couple through the canvas and this becomes a hanger for necklaces and bracelets

And the finished result......
(of course minus a few  'hangers'- I'll let Paige arrange more of those herself and I've added a bracelet hanging for an example)

It's really a great little project - you can make it to whatever size you like...

AND
most of all
its a fabulous gift!
Julie Tucker-Wolek

Hi everyone! :)
This is seriously the BIGGEST (Size wise that is!) project that I have ever made! :)
I started with a canvas that I got at Michael's :)

Here is the size of my canvas :)

Next, I used Mod Podge to put on one vintage dress pattern :)

Then I added a second coat of Mod Podge and another dress pattern :)

When that step was done...

I started making my paper flowers with these papers :)

To fill the entire canvas... I ended up making 77 flowers!! :)
And here is my finished project! :)

Can't wait to see what everyone makes for this fun challenge :)
~~Julie~~

Aren't these awesome wall art projects? Inspired to make something yourself? We would love to see your entries for LESSology Challenge #4: Wall Art. Please leave a comment for our designers. :)

Okay, now I'm really inspired to try something with cork, and to do some painting, and to make some flowers. Maybe not 77 flowers, but I am so impressed that Julie actually did. That floral wall art is a show-stopper!
