LESSology Challenge #5 Guest Designer: Lynnda Hosni

Photobucket

We are pleased to have Lynnda Hosni as our guest designer for LESSology Challenge #5: Jars of Cuteness. Lynnda has been a strong supporter of our site from the very beginning and has played in every single challenge so far. Incidentally, she was the winner of our last challenge! :)

Woohoo....What an honour!!! I am really excited to be the guest designer at LESSology!... It is such a great site for inspiration and great tips on upcycling items into beautiful projects.

When I first started to scrapbook and cardmarking, I never would have thought of diversifying my capabilities on craft!!!.. I thought that’s it!!! But boy!!! I did!!! Besides cardmarking and scrapbooking... I can do more now... I was like "whoa" to myself[he he he]...Not only that but now I even start to recycle or upcycle things around me... and I am glad when Yvonne asked me to be the GDT @ LESSology...as it gave me the chance to "show-off" a bit of my talent on altered art.
I had so much fun creating this project!... The jar was actually a candy jar that Matin got from his bff last year Christmas...He said... Mom you can use this for your altered jar project!!! ...He's Darling isn't he???.. So I decided to alter it into a Chrissie gift  ...Matin would fill this up with M&M peanuts...and he plans to give this to Rhys[his bff]...Thank you to the LESSology crew for inviting me to be part of their challenge, and I really hope to see your "altered jars" ideas soon!

LESSology Challenge #5: Creative projects of Amy Tsuruta and Lisa Saunders

Photobucket

Today we get to see the cute jars from Amy Tsuruta and Lisa Saunders! :)

Amy Tsuruta

Hello, Amy here to share my Altered Jar project.  The timing was perfect for this challenge because I'm going to a birthday party next weekend and needed a neat packaging idea.

Introducing the Canning Jar:

I love canning jars....not in the "kitchen" sense, but to alter...they are so many ways that you can decorate them.  This particular jar has been upcycled...the second item that is upcycled is the diecut.  I used a nestie with an upcycled Westin Hotel chippie coaster... they were scattered around our hotel room.  The Cameo Rub-On is perfect for the birthday girl...the sentiment is a rub-on too.

I used the same Jenni Bowlin paper inside the jar that I did for the lid...

I decided to just plop the interior piece of patterned paper in there just in case my friend preferred the "clear" look....she can just remove it.

I can't wait to see how the Jars of Cuteness challenge inspires you!

Lisa Saunders

I always wash and keep my old Jars. I use them for various different gift ideas.
One of my favourite gifts are sweetie jars.
I like to make these as teacher presents and make a tag saying ' Thank you for being a sweet teacher'. These always go down a treat.

And it's a great way to recycle old glass jars and use old old paper and ribbon scraps.

I can't wait to see what you do with yours xxx

Inspired to make your own jars of cuteness yet? We would love to see your entries for LESSology Challenge #5: Jars of Cuteness! The deadline for entries is Sunday November 13, 11.59pm EST. Please read the challenge rules to ensure your eligibility for our prizes.

LESSology Challenge #5: Creative projects of Angi Barrs and Julie Tucker-Wolek

Ready for more cute jars? Check out what Angi Barrs and Julie Tucker-Wolek made! :)

Angi Barrs

Hi everyone! It's Angi here to share my altered jar with all of you. And I must say this is my FAVE so far of the LESSology projects. It was so fun to make. Here are the details.

Instead of throwing away my Ragu spaghetti sauce jar I decided to clean it and alter it up for Christmas.

I purchased all of my supplies from Michael's craft store. The snowman is actually a Christmas tree ornament. Here's a side view of my jar. I covered the Ragu label with glitter cardstock to add some shine.

This is my favorite part of my altered jar. I love the cute little snowman's face. I also added pink curly ribbon. I'm going to make more of these for gift giving season.

On the inside of the jar I added sparkly styrofoam balls and a larger pink ornament.

I can't wait to visit your blogs to see what you come up with for this fun challenge!

Julie Tucker-Wolek

I had so much fun making my altered jar! Recently my daughters director of her daycare got transferred to another daycare, and I had a little trinket jar sitting around and I thought I would dress it up and add some Hershey's kisses too! (can't ever hurt to have chocolate added to any gift, right?) :)

Here is what I started out with :)

And here is what I transformed it to :)

I can't wait to see what everyone makes :)
~~Julie~~

Aren't these the cutest jars? We would love to see your cute jars for LESSology Challenge #5: Jars of Cuteness! Please leave some love for our designers! :)

LESSology Challenge #5: Creative projects of Audrey Pettit, Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam

Photobucket

Are you ready to check out our design team projects for LESSology Challenge #5: Jars of Cuteness? Today we get to see what Audrey Pettit, Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam did with their jars! :)

Audrey Pettit

Hi everyone! It's Audrey, here with a fun fall harvest treat container idea for our 5th challenge, the altered jar.

I love using recycled jars as gift containers. They come in many shapes and sizes and are ideal for all sorts of sweet treats or small gifts. I packed mine full of candy corn, one of my father's favorite candies. Dressed up with a harvest theme, this made a sweet little addition to his birthday celebration this past weekend.

This sweet jar project was not only fun, but simple and quick, too. All I needed were a few supplies I already had on hand, and the help of my handy-dandy glue gun.

Start by laying your jar lid onto a piece of burlap. Trace a large circle around the lid. No need to measure or be perfect. Just give yourself a large enough circle to fold over the sides of the lid with some allowance for extra to create a ruffled trim. I machine stitched around my traced circle before cutting it out. This keeps the burlap from continuing to fray. Then place a small dot of hot glue in the center of the outside of the jar lid and adhere to the burlap circle. Working in small sections at a time, run a bead of hot glue around the edge of the lid and fold the burlap over the edge. Once you are finished, hot glue trim around the jar lid.

Now have fun embellishing your jar to match your theme. Since I was going for a fall harvest look, I added natural elements of leaves and acorns. Both are my upcycled items for today's project. The acorns came straight from my yard, and the leaves were die cut and stamped from a panel taken from an old shipping box. I added a touch of inking in harvest colors, and stamped a banner flag to attach with a memo pin.

Kirsty Vittetoe

I was going to alter my mason jar but then it is brand new and clean so I am keeping it for something else, then I search through my kitchen cabinet and found this glass jar (vase?) I bought it from Ikea at least 8 years ago, it was old and I spent some time cleaning it and give it a new look....

after cleaning the jar, I pick this up from my front porch

pull a bit of green and brown moss from the artificial flower arrangement, and plant my tiny tree in the jar...

print my favorite bear Winnie the pooh from my folder, color it with chalk, cut it out...

now the fun part, do you remember these page pebbles from long long time ago, LOL! (i think they are at least 15 years old), they used to be clear, now they aged and turned yellow, but it is PERFECT for my little balloon...

a little hot glue to keep the wire in between 2 pieces of the pebbles makes that little yellow balloon looks even more realistic...

now my pooh bear and his beloved ballon...

there is a secret that I am going to reveal now, this is what my craft table looks like all year round, but I really have a good reason for keeping those "unwanted" pieces....

see, a tiny craft punch (do they still sell these?) and all those bits and pieces of tiny paper never go to waste....

aww.... my favorite time of the year.....

see those "mess" the hot glue left? I think they make perfect spider webs, so I just left them there....

here's my cute jar....

and ya, we need to show you a close up of what Pooh said to the balloon...

Hi! Yvonne here to share my jar of cuteness! :)

Out of this world jar

An out of this world jar that lights up! :)
I started with an empty plastic jar from the kitchen...

Glued some Bo Bunny patterned paper and ribbon.

I added a flickering light from an old lantern to the cover.

Three very different jars but all cute in their own unique way. We would love to see your fun take on LESSology Challenge #5: Jars of Cuteness! :) Please leave some love for our designers.
