I love transparent glass bottles because they offer a world of possibilities when it comes to decorating them. I used 3 in my stationery caddy project. :)

Here is my stationery caddy!

The base is from the packaging from canned abalone. I just added some lace, pearls and pretty embellishments.

This one was a chipped glass beaker from an old French press.

This was an old decorative jar that had seen better days.

This was an old jam jar.

I kept to the same neutral colour palette for all 4 pieces for a cohesive overall look. I'm using this stationery caddy for an upcoming birthday party. Hope you will join us in our very last challenge.

Hello again! Do you have a musical notes stamp or some patterned paper with music notes on it? You can use them to play along with LESSology Challenge #63: Musical chairs! Shall we take a look at design team member Yvonne Yam's interpretation of this challenge?

I love these slide out boxes that come with my Kikki K planners...they make great gift boxes.

I covered the top of the box with a piece of patterned paper and then had fun embellishing.:)

A little embellishment cluster at the bottom....and a little subtle musical notes stamping the edges with a brown ink to blend in with the paper design.

At the top, I did a little more music notes stamping. My embellishment cluster also includes a music note charm. I also added the Happy Birthday plastic embellishment that comes with buying a cake at the bakery.

A really quick and easy way to dress up a box. Come play along with us!

LESSology Challenge #62: Creative inspiration of Yvonne Yam

 photo Challenge-62-Handmade-invitationr-Design-Team_zpsm81o0aw2.jpg

A little stumped by our latest challenge? How about some ideas to get those creative juices going for LESSology Challenge #62: Handmade invitation? You could try a fun pocket letter invitation where you could include little pockets of clues for the recipient. Or upcycle an old box to house your special invitation. The possibilities are endless! Let's check out what design team member Yvonne Yam came up with.

I wanted to use a translucent plastic box that was packaging  for a set of markers. My idea was to decorate it partially so that the recipient would be able to have a peek at the contents.

So this was what I came up with...a sweet invitation for afternoon tea.:)

I cut a sheet of double-sided patterned paper to size and ran it through my Xyron Creative Station for an even layer of adhesive. I glued the paper from the base of the box, up the back and covered the front flap, leaving the rest of the translucent box untouched.

Then I worked on the large bottle cap decoration for the front cover.

To add a little more interest and texture, I adhered some lace from an old bra with matte medium.

Then I adhered my decorated bottle cap to the top flap of the box.

I wrapped some tea with brown paper packaging and twine and enclosed a tag for my afternoon tea invitation.

Here is how the finished handmade invitation for afternoon tea! Would you like to join me for some afternoon tea? :)

This month is all about decorated bags for LESSology Challenge #61: Bag Collector. They make great gift bags...just check out what designer Yvonne Yam did.

My cousin just had a baby boy so I needed a gift bag for the baby presents.

I went the cute route of course.,,,and incorporated a diaper-wearing teddy bear. :)

This was what I started with...a Kiehl's paper bag and some patterned paper which I cut to size and ran through my Xyron creative station for an even layer of adhesive.

I found some remnant felt fabric and ribbon in my stash and used some white twine to make my own handles for the bag.

I used some washers for added reinforcement.

Then I used some remnant fabric to create a nappy for the bear and adhered the bear to the paper bag. :)

Have an old cup/mug that could use a little love? How about decorating it for LESSology Challenge #60: Mug Shot? Let's see what design team member Yvonne Yam came up with...

I really wanted to make something from a sturdy beer can I kept in my stash....and finally got to use!

Here is my beer can turned beer "mug" for my paintbrushes. :)

I started with this can and used a can opener to remove the top.

Then I adhered some chipboard and old lace fabric.

I found an old shop strap that I adhered to create the "handle" for the beer mug.

After that, I spray painted the whole thing with silver paint.

And finished by adding embellishments.

Now I have a pretty beer "mug" for my paint brushes. :)

LESSology Challenge #59: Creative inspiration of Yvonne Yam

Bright and bold neon colours make me happy! So put a little colour on and join us for LESSology Challenge #59: Neon-inspired! Let's check out what design team member Yvonne Yam came up with.

I recently did a spring-cleaning of my lingerie drawer so I had little pieces of pretty lace from old bras that I wanted to use on my project.

So I adhered them to a canvas board, then painted white gesso over it. Because the lace pieces were not big enough to cover the whole canvas, I used a stencil and some heavy gesso to create a more cohesive background.

Then I went in with a bright orange mist. Love how the lace textures show through from all the little nooks and crannies.

I finished with bright yellow and green embellishments.

LESSology Challenge #58: Creative inspiration of Yvonne Yam

 photo Challenge-58-Chalkboard-Fun-Design-Team_zpsfbifrvfk.jpg

Chalkboards are the rage now in home decor so why not make one for LESSology Challenge #58: Chalkboard Fun? Let's check out how design team member Yvonne Yam was inspired by this challenge.

One of my fave craft paints is the blue chalkboard paint by Martha Stewart.

So I decided to make my own chalkboard with an old clipboard.:)

I covered this old clipboard with two coats of chalkboard paint.

Next, I adhered some gorgeous lace.

After that, I decorated the top of the clip with pretty embellishments.

And then it's time to test my chalkboard! I used a white pastel pencil which works like conventional chalk without the mess.
