My aunt is a big fan of my handmade cards, since holiday is getting closer, this is my gift for her....

I modified this box to hold the personalized card set I made for her

plus a few more holiday cards, I am going with the Kate Spade look

Come play along with us.....

I found this old wooden letter in my "save-it-for-a-rainy-day" stash and decided to incorporate it on my tag.

The base was packaging cardboard which I covered with a coat of gesso before applying Liqutex ceramic stucco with The Crafter's Workshop stencil for texture. Then given a spritz of Tattered Angels glimmer mist.

For the letter Y, I painted it with Silks acrylic glaze. The mist and glaze colours were added to come leftover gauze for more textural interest.

Then I embellished with mica flakes, bling, pearls and a resin bloom.

LESSology Challenge#41: Creative inspiration of Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam

Ready for the first round of design team inspiration for LESSology Challenge #41: Beautiful scenery? Let's check out how Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam were inspired.

Since Halloween is around the corner, I need to get some decor done at home, this is what I created ....

the box was used to store some wooden scrabble chips found at the Brooklyn Flea

Of all the method I've tried, I find that the best way to have my glitters stick to the project is to used sticker paper, but they are quite expensive, so whenever I need to sign in when teaching at our local public school here, I keep all this sticky label ...

trace the bats on the sticker label and pour glitters all over... Tada...

Beautiful scene or spooky scene? I leave it to you! : )

Hello there! It's Yvonne to share my "scene" on a canvas project.

I stencilled and painted over an old burlap covered canvas.

I really wanted to incorporate this old leather bird from an old handbag on my canvas. The leather was peeling so I painted it with a layer of clear gesso then painted it with Silks acrylic glazes.

Kirsty Vittetoe

I just came back from San Francisco 2 weeks ago, and this map I get from the hotel can't be any better for my mini album.

first I cut out the part of the map for the places I would like to highlight in my album

gather the journaling card from my project life plus some bits of pieces of left-over chipboard that I can used to make the album.

I will not take up too much space here, if you want to see the details of how to make this album, you can hop over to my blog on Wednesday 9/3.

I love to travel. While I don't always get to stay at the luxurious hotels, I like to pop in to admire the lush and beautifully furnished hotel lobbies....which provided the inspiration for my mixed media canvas. :)

The base of the canvas was first covered with wrapping tissue from packaging. Then I created the "wallpaper" with some light modeling paste and The Crafter's Workshop stencil.

The pouffe was an old toy which I painted and added a "cushion" with sponge and lace. The "vase" was from a broken light bulb...I painted it and filled with faux stamens.

The mirror was from an old travel makeup kit which I covered with washi tape and painted lace. The "frame" for the map was the cap from a Starbucks coffee bottle. The parts for the "chandelier" were bits of old costume jewellery.

Butterflies are such pretty embellishments to add to your projects. Let's check out how design team members Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam were inspired by LESSology Challenge #39: Fluttering Butterflies

Kirsty Vittetoe

You are going to love this challenge, because we are going to use butterfly on our project, who doesn't love butterfly?

Mine was made from old book page.... an old dictionary from the thrift store for 0.25, probably a life long supplies too.

Come share with us at LESSology!

I am in the midst of "dolling" up my craft space so I've been altering some of my storage units.

Like this small wooden drawer that I've had for years. The drawer was black and cream with a small knob.

I covered it with remnant lace...

Then I added a fabric bloom for the knob...some pearls and a pretty butterfly bling.

It's a simple way to "doll" up a functional storage unit that you already have. I'm going to use it to store my butterfly embellishments. :)

Have you rummaging through your sewing box looking for items to play along with LESSology Challenge #38: Sew Lovely? How about getting a little inspiration from design team members Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam?

Kirsty Vittetoe

My friend just had a new grand baby, she is as cute as a button, and she is my inspiration of the project for this month..... SEW LOVELY!

more reason to hoard on those shopping bags, especially small and cute one like this...

of course the gift bag is to house a little album or I should say Grandma's brag book for my friend!

Hello there! It's Yvonne here to share my take on LESSology Challenge #38: Sew Lovely

The-Gangster-Gang-on-12x12-mixed-media-canvas

If there's one thing I hoard, it's wrapping tissue from all my shopping..*winks*. Even the small pieces are useful to create texture for the background of a canvas. For this particular piece, I didn't have enough to cover the entire canvas, so I added some lace at the bottom. :)

After colouring the background with Derwent Inktense blocks, I created some foliage with The Crafter's Workshop stencils and some light modeling paste. Then I added my photo and embellished with buttons, blooms, pearls and bling.

Hope that you will come join us for LESSology Challenge #38: Sew Lovely! :)
