LESSology Challenge #64: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

photo Challenge 64 Lets get organized Design Team_zpsafqkzpnc.jpg

Are you into organizing your life in a planner? Let's have a look at design team member Lizzy Hill's pretty organizational planner for LESSology Challenge #64: Let's get organized! :)

 photo Design-team-member-Lizzy_zps8033ad7b.jpg

For a while I've been wanting to try out the Planner / Organiser / Diary idea. But I was uncertain if I'd stick with it.... surprisingly, I have & it's slowly developing  - here's a few of my early pages:

I had an 8x8 binder, not being used. Just til the end of the year, this is what I'm using.
Instead of buying ready made pages, I've gotten free downloads & printed them off. I didn't want to waste money buying inserts at this stage.

The inserts have been printed on those sheets you get with your 12x12 plastic pockets.
I had literally hundreds & found them too flimsy for scrap layouts.
It's nice to finally be able to cut them up and use them.

I wanted  a space I could throw in some photos, or tell a story as well as being a planner.
This works for me!

The blue arrows on the right have been cut out of packaging!

I can blame Sandra S on getting me 'going' with this one! That's a post it note. Love using non-scrapping stuff in my scrapping!!!

This is the front page...... gotta have a bit of 'pretty' in one's life!!!!

I've even thrown some plastic sleeves in! That's the beauty of a file folder. You can add what you like.

So there you have it! My attempt at organising my life, LOL!!!
Hoping you can join us with your organisational ideas this month, whatever they are!!!

LESSology Challenge #63: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

 photo Challenge-63-Musical-chairs-Design-Team_zpsxqnob9kl.jpg

Hello there friends! Are you rummaging through your stash to find some musical notes for LESSology Challenge #63: Musical chairs? Let's check out how design team member Lizzy Hill got creative this month.

 photo Design-team-member-Lizzy_zps8033ad7b.jpg

Hi there! This month I've created a LO using musical notes in a couple of ways. Here's my page:

As you can see, I've pulled out some very old music score & used it as a mat for the photo. Which isn't the best quality, but important to record. Sometimes that's the way, right?

I found some music manuscript paper & used a chicken wire die cut as an embellie.Worked a treat. And you can see some ric rac, ribbon and a green button which are also upcycled for my page!

I also popped a few of the hexagons from the die cutting onto my page! And can you spy the green coloured bubble wrap behind the photo? LOL! Amazing what can be used on a page;)

To create the webbing hearts, I simply cut a heart free hand then layered it on an old index card, then cut around it leaving a small border. It's attached with PVA glue. And my little 'fake flair' tucked in behind? It's old cardboard from a biscuit packet, I've hand written on some musical treble clefs, then added a sticky acrylic round over top! Such FUN being creative:)

Here's a closie of another one I made. Hope this gives you some ideas for joining our LESSology challenge this month!

LESSology Challenge #62: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

 photo Challenge-62-Handmade-invitationr-Design-Team_zpsm81o0aw2.jpg

Hope you've been enjoying the design team's projects for LESSology Challenge #62: Handmade invitation so far. How about one last one from design team member Lizzy Hill to end your week on a high note? :)

Hi there! The challenge this month is to CREATE AN INVITATION for a special
occasion. And to try to think beyond a simple card. This is what I came up with:

I made the envelope with some patterned paper. Found a button to add to the back.
This is the fastening. When you open it, this happens:

Obviously NOT an invite for this 54 year old's party, tee hee..... 30 is still a pretty significant age, though. I made the flowers up using stuff I had in my craft room:

They're layers of tissue paper, netting and satin...plus the buttons, of course:)
I've also added a button to the paper clip [below]. I think it looks cute!

Added some more tissue paper, pleated, behind the 'I am 30' card :)
And lots of doilies, too:

Made up the little bow....The party information [not filled in for obv reasons!]
is at the top and bottom of the envelope invite:

I used a couple of little stickers I had in my stash - thought they worked a treat!

Would love for you to get your thinking caps on & join us here at LESSology this month!

LESSology Challenge #61: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

 photo Challenge-61-Bag-Collector-Design-Team_zpswkoyv2nz.jpg

If you have tons of glassine bags in your stash, designer Lizzy Hill has an awesome idea for using them to make fun mini books for LESSology Challenge #61: Bag Collector.

 photo Design-team-member-Lizzy_zps8033ad7b.jpg

Hey there, my upcycling recycling scrapping friends! Today I'd like to share with you what I did with decorating a paper bag.

Took a paper bag. Folded it into 1/2 & then 1/2 again. Stapled the middle.
Cut the top and bottom bits to create turn-able pages.

Then, because it's a glassine paper bag and not strong, I glued two pages together.
THEN I used an old quote calendar to add a number of quotes that suited 2 of my step grand girls, who I made these books for:

And here's some samples from the insides:

I added Washi tape to the edges for added strength, too. That stuff BREEDS!!

The front cover.

And one last one, cos I can!

There's a lot of stash-busting bits in here, too:)
Anyways, I hope this inspires you to look at paper bags in a slightly different light.....can't wait to see what you come up with this month!

LESSology Challenge #60: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

 photo Challenge-60-Mug-Shot-Design-Team_zpssybm4u4s.jpg

Not all cups/mugs need to be 3D especially if you don't need to use it for drinking...*winks* Confused? Let's take a look at designer Lizzy Hill's creative take on LESSology Challenge #60: Mug Shot!

 photo Design-team-member-Lizzy_zps8033ad7b.jpg

Hi there! So, this month's challenge was very challenging for me! Have you noticed I tend to be more a LO peep than Off the Page? But a MUG....well, apart from my face.....which is a sort of mug.....
well... this had me truly stumped.

Light-bulb moment. What about a MUG CARD? Searched the internet. Found a cup card template.
Got my Bro [that is, my Brother Scan'n'Cut] out & we went to town. Figuratively speaking, that is!
Here's a few 'process' shots:

Covered the cut out shape in pretty patterned paper! Then, found some old tissue paper & spied the butterflies.

Fussy cutting commenced. Have you tried it with tissue paper? It AIN'T easy!!

Inked up some bits of lace I had....

then I'd seen a tutorial from FILIZLOVESPAPER HERE. It's about using stickers to create your own embellies. Soooo..... to make some of the butterflies, the teapot & the tag:

This is what I did:

Paints on a brayer & slapped on some acrylic paint. Then...stamped randomly over top once dry:

Then fussy cut or die cut or punch out shapes! Looks brill. Easy peasy, too. Before I attached the labels to cardstock:

After:

Right! So lots of recycled stuff used..... & teacup sorted!
Luck! Can't wait to see how you get creative with this challenge:)

LESSology Challenge #59: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

 photo Challenge-59-Neon-inspired-Design-Team_zpsfl6khtsb.jpg

Guess who loves bright and bold colours? Design team member Lizzy Hill does! Let's check out how she made those neon colours pop for LESSology Challenge #59: Neon-inspired. :)

 photo Design-team-member-Lizzy_zps8033ad7b.jpg

I really love bright colours, so this month's LESSology CHALLENGE;
'Let's Play with some neon colours' was right up my alley! My up-cycled/recycled elements include ribbon, a button my Mum brought back from the USA & a crocheted doily I've had for years!

It felt soooo good to use some ribbon up! I find it HARD:)

The button 'all the way from the USA'....been in my stash for 18 months, too!

And finally: I find a black bg really helps flouro colours 'pop':

Hoping you get inspired to join us at LESSology this month!
