LESSology Challenge #37: Creative inspiration of Lizzy Hill

No animal embellishments to play along with LESSology Challenge #37: Animal Kingdom? Maybe you have a pet that you can make a project on...like design team member Lizzy Hill...

Hey there!
Confession time! I must tell you, I am not good at using animals on my pages. I do ADORE butterflies but I rarely use them....birds, the same....BUT I did manage a couple here...

..one was on the paper, then I stamped, water-coloured & fussy cut another one:) And my page is about an animal...WALLY...the wonder dog! Lucky I've got him to scrap, eh??!!!

Isn't he CUTE? The arrow near the wood 'big smiles' is cut from a cereal box! And my biggest recycled element is the tag, tucked in behind the photo, created from packaging:

And this is how it looks after just one coat of BLACK GESSO....it's amazing how much better the white gel pen writes on the gesso instead of normal card stock, too:)

I could have done another coat of gesso, but I rather liked this 'rustic' look...suited my page:)
While I had the gesso out, this RED PAPER CLIP also got a coat....the yellow is Glimmer Glaze....

A bit of hessian, another bit of stamping packaging, a few sentiment stamps, arrows....& that's about it!
I'm sure you'll ROCK animals - if I can do it, I'm sure you can go one better:)
Happy Scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

I first spotted owls on Pinterest made from a variety of recycled materials. I pinned them and wanted my own. In fact, I swiped the pin from fellow teamie Julie!

When I found the metal clock face in a bin for free at the second hand store, I started planning my owl! I knew our challenge this month was to include an animal in our project and I wanted my project to BE an animal.

The silver tray was also a second hand store find and the clock face fit in it perfectly.

The metal ears were once part of a heart tart pan that I took apart. The metal base is the owl body that was covered with embossed copper & painted. Some vintage lace covers the top.

Of course, I bet you can guess what the eyes are made out of! Canning jar lids, rusty washers, and a crystal eye ball!

I am pretty sure the ones I spotted on Pinterest were meant to be hung in your garden, but mine is hanging out in my studio with me. The paper flowers don't lend themselves to being placed outside, but I really loved the addition of the rolled roses!

Love the pattern and color they add!

And what owl isn't complete with a birch stick to hold on to and some bow ties!

Hope you get a chance to play along with us! Upcycling is a HOOT!

Hi everyone!

I am super excited about this month's challenge to incorporate an animal into our projects!!!

I had some vintage plastic animals and some spaghetti jars and a salsa jar (didn't get a photo of the BEFORE salsa jar ...hmmm not sure why! LOL!) and decided to make some holders for my washi tapes!!!

Here is what I started with --

I took the animals and glued them to the jar lids and then spray painted them pink :)

And here is how they turned out --

For those washi tapes that I still had tags for -- I hung them from the neck of the jars to know what I have :)

Can't wait to see what you create for this challenge!! ~~ Julie :)

LESSology Challenge #37:: Creative inspiration of Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam

 photo Challenge-37-Animal-Kingdom-design-team-projects_zpsf11fdebf.jpg

This month's challenge is to incorporate an animal or animals on your project for LESSology Challenge #37: Animal Kingdom. Let's check out how design team members Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam were inspired.

Kirsty Vittetoe

My step-daughter is getting married this July, the wedding is going to be at Grand Mesa, Colorado, she wants me to make a gift basket for the guests who will be attending the wedding ceremony, one of her request is to incorporate the "Grand Mesa Poem" into the gift, so.... I thought I'll make a mini photo booklet, to go with the peach jelly from a local orchards they picked out as gift for the guests.

I picked "Deer" because the last time we went to Grand Mesa, we did see a few deers wandering

I recycled tissue paper from gifts I received and used it on the inside page of the booklet

left side is going to be the photo of the bride and groom and next is the poem

more pages at the back for photos

next is to "produce" 30 more of these, LOL!

My sister recently had her room lighting changed and I tried to salvage as many parts as possible.

Like these glass pieces.

I used E6000 glue to adhere the pieces together.

Then just added some lace, pearls, blooms and leaves....and my mini clay frog that I've had forever. Love that it can be a candle holder, pen holder or little vase.

Hope you play along with LESSology Challenge #37: Animal Kingdom.
