LESSology Challenge #27: Guest designer Lizzy Hill

Our guest designer for LESSology Challenge #27: Packaging Central is the lovely Lizzy Hill. I had the pleasure of meeting up with her in person last week and got to spend some time in her scrap room too...:)

My name is Lizzy Hill & I began scrapping in 2009 after coming home from a trip overseas. Mum encouraged me to ‘give it a go’ as a way of getting my photos sorted. It opened up a whole new world which I just adore. Blogging seemed to be a natural extension of scrapping – thus I’ve managed to combine a whole pile of ‘loves’ - photography, writing & scrapping!

My style is madly eclectic. I’ll give anything a go…my fave embellie atm has to be Washi tape – oh! And buttons/badges are up there, too. I scrap cards & OTP’s [off the page projects] as well as layouts. I don’t consider myself artistic – but I do really enjoy colour combinations. That may come from my dim, dark past as a hairdresser! I was also an English teacher…but my boys are grown up, I have my first grand-child, & I’m pretty much enjoying the good life these days. Not complaining at all… This is my 2^nd term on the Scrap Friends Design Team & I’m also on The Trinket Track Design Team…..plus I’ve had a fair few layouts published in Scrapbooking Memories – a fab Australian scrapping mag. Basically, I LOVE the ‘love’ of belonging to the Scrappy Community…blog hops & challenges, like this LESSology one, are such fun! 

I found this box in an Op Shop & it was crying out to me 'Take me, fix me, use me'...so naturally I have! Yvonne showed me how to use old dress pattern to add a bit of texture. Of course, after she'd gone I added more gesso, dimensional paint, mica flakes, crackle paint, mists, spray, pearlessence....nail polish...ummmm...& I'm sure there's more!!!!

LESSology Challenge #27: Creative inspiration of Mitra Pratt

I am a box hoarder.

There, I've come clean. Long after whatever device I have is long gone, I've still got the box!

Take a look at this bad boy. It's black, sturdy, and awesome!

Perfect for messing around with!

I decided to make it into a shadow box and cut a circle out of the lid. Took a bit of doing though, so you have to stick with it!

I have had these circle cutters from Creative Memories for a trillion years and they still are a go-to tool for me. I had them long before those magic electric cutters we all have. You cannot put a box lid in a Silhouette no matter how hard you try, so I imagine I'll have them for a long while after too!

After getting the circle cut in the center of the box top, I used gesso and alcohol inks on the inside.
I cut out a piece of patterned paper for the background.

Next was the fun part, adding a sparkle modge podge, pearl-ex paint, and all the goodies inside! The edges on the top of the box are foil doilies with ink rubbed into them.

The bottom of course are some up-cycled thread spools. I opted to keep the thread on them as I thought it looked really cool! Plus, the thread is a bit old, so not all that great for sewing with anyhow.

The really cool part about upcycling is that it is fairly cheap! The only cost I had was in a downloadable reusable image. I grabbed this one from Nicecrane Designs for $4.50, but can print out as many images as I want! The moss was from our woods and the the flowers & shrooms were all in my stash!

Here is a side view of my box. I am loving that butterfly! Something else from my stash that I added alcohol ink to!

Hi everyone!! Julie here with you today sharing a layout I made for this month's challenge! 

I decided to use an old packaging of an alpha chipboard sheet I had from Prima :)   The alphas are long gone (they didn't stick at all ... and they frustrated me, so I got rid of them... lol!!)  But I kept the packaging they came on to use as a mask! 

I placed my background page down and then placed the alpha chipboard packaging on top and misted away :)

And here is what my background page looks like now :) 

And here is my layout I made :) 

I used the July Paper Made Bakery kit on my layout :)

Howdy Peeps... today is my turn to share LESSology Challenge #27 - Packaging Central....

Okay...for this month ... its a little easy.... what can you do with those packaging??? some brand the packaging is so pretty that you can use as it is... but some you need to doll up a little to use it... Just remember it can be any project you like to create... follow your heart and think out of the box....

I usually hoard [save for raining days] some packaging....

LESSology Challenge #27: Creative inspiration of Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam

Hello there! Ready to check out how creative our design team got with LESSology Challenge #27: Packaging Central? Today's inspiration comes from design team members Kirsty Vittetoe and Yvonne Yam.

I mostly order my crafting supplies online, and they used tons of paper to filled up the gap between the goods so they won't shift around during shipping, I always felt that it is such a waste to throw those paper away, so I collected them thinking that someday they will be put into good used ... here's the pile.

Last week, my daughter asked me to make her a note book, and she wanted one with just plain paper and no lines... now you see why I keep those papers : )

I folded the paper and cut them into the size I wanted, stitched them together into a small booklet, I have 3 booklets in total, and then stitched them all onto a piece of kraft paper

and next is to find a piece of pretty patterned paper for its cover and start decorating it

I think I am going to make more of these since I still have a big pile of papers left : )

Hello...this is Yvonne, here to share with you my project using a sock hanger. :)

It's such a pity to throw away those sock hangers that new socks come in. It makes a great hanger for a tag! :)

I started with a Ranger grungeboard which I coloured with Faber Castell gelatos and layered with some Golden glass bead gel for a glass glitter finish. After that, I applied some Golden fiber paste with a stencil for some texture. And painted that with Daler-Rowney liquid acrylics for shimmer. 

The blooms were cut from old lace. I painted the Blue Fern Studios chipboard with gold paint, then added Golden Gold mica flakes for extra sparkle.
